Re-use, Recycle

_20170721_112512Here at The Soap Cabin, we care about the environment and try to re-use and recycle where we can. As well as using recycled labels, boxes and shredded paper, we also hang on to any packaging we get through deliveries of supplies, such as cardboard boxes and jiffy bags, and use this again for packaging up orders to send out to customers. I recently bought a portable tap dance practice board for home (my main hobby!) and the box contained SO MUCH bubble wrap, so I have kept all of it to use for sending out orders! It saves us buying bubble wrap (not sure I have ever had to buy any), and it also stops it going straight in the bin.

I was thinking about our body butter tins recently. Once you’ve finished with it, what do you do with it? Well, why not wash it out and re-purpose it?

  • Refill it with another product
  • Use it for storing jewellery, buttons, pins, stationery
  • Use it to store sweeties
  • Make a candle and set it in the tin
  • Turn it into a gift for someone else
  • (Or, we are happy to take back your empties if you are coming to one of our craft markets)

This Saturday!

So THIS is happening this Saturday on Chorleywood Common! We haven’t booked a spot this year, but as per last weekend, we’re going to try and pop along to check it out. I believe this year, following feedback they will be arranging stalls in ‘zones’. (You may recall that we were dwarfed last year amongst a load of charity stalls, so people avoided us because they were scared of being collared to sign up for something).

If we make it, I will try and take some photos to share with you.

Booked!

Autumn Market 2017

Yay! We have confirmed our place at the Chalfont Crafty Collective’s Autumn Market and Macmillan Coffee Morning at the end of September. I’m not really a baker, so this is a nice way to be involved without being a Mary Berry 🙂 We haven’t done any markets since March, and I’ve really missed them, so it is definitely something to look forward to. The local community of Chalfont St Peter come out and support this ever-growing market every quarter and it has become popular with stall holders too, as the organisers say they are over-subscribed and have a waiting list this time! So it’s even more “yay!” that we got a place.

We have quite a bit of soap in stock as we’ve not been doing any markets over the Summer, but we will will need to make more body butters nearer the time as they have a shorter shelf life.

We will also be on holiday at the end of the Summer, and we are really looking forward to the break :))
