Summer Village Festival Fun

Because we are hoping to move house shortly, we aren’t doing any of the Summer festivals that are happening at the moment around the South West Herts, South Bucks, Middlesex area (boo!), which are usually a great business opportunity. As we had a free Saturday today, we decided to check out not one but TWO summer fests to see what they’re like:

First we went to the Feast of St Peter on Chalfont St Peter common, which had lots of stalls, including a craft tent, (where some of our friends from Chalfont Crafty Collective were exhibiting), a performance stage, a petting zoo, heavy horses from the Chiltern Open Air Museum and a fun fair. It has been a sweltering week, but today the weather was a lot cooler, with the threat of showers, but thankfully they pretty much held off. Bought some local Chorleywood honey, which I hope will help keep hayfever at bay…

Then we went to the slightly larger  Croxley Revels at Croxley Green, which had a lot more stalls and a big performance area in the middle of the green. Our first ever ‘market home’ Little Fox Market was there, and we caught up briefly with Kathryn of Glowbeads (see some of her work below). The sun started to beat down quite strongly as we were walking around, so we ducked into the shade as soon as we could! Bought some locally made fudge!

Chalfont Crafty Collective Handmade Fair & Macmillan Coffee Morning

Yesterday we had a stall at the Chalfont Crafty Collective’s Vintage & Handmade Fair with Macmillan Coffee morning at St Peter’s Parish Church Hall in the lovely Chalfont St Peter, not too far from home! We were supposed to have taken part in the first ever Chalfont Crafty Collective Fair earlier in the year, but I ended up having to cancel last minute due to ill health.

The fair started off a little slow, probably due to the rain and the early start of 9am (apparently no-one rises before 11am in Chalfont St Peter), but once we got to 10am, things picked up and we ended up having a fairly good day!

Lots of people came in and enjoyed tea, coffee and lovely homemade cakes and I heard this morning that £101.58 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support! Read more about the world’s biggest coffee morning here: https://coffee.macmillan.org.uk/

We look forward to the Christmas Fair at the same venue on 17th December!

Little Fox Amersham – March 2016

Today we had a stall at the *BRAND NEW* Amersham Little Fox Market, held at the Amersham Free Church Alfred Ellis Hall, just off the High Street in the Chilterns.DSC_0040

DSC_0242As it was a new event, we didn’t expect it to be amazing, and although there were people browsing throughout the morning, it went fairly quiet later on. It just needs some time for word to spread and for it to gain a following (in person, and not just on social media :))

There were plenty of people on the High Street and we managed to get some of them in (including an old friend!) by leafleting at points during the day. Hopefully they’ll return next month.

DSC_0241Annoyingly, I filled up my flask at home with Lemon & Ginger tea and then ended up leaving it at home! Then when we got to the fair we found out that the person who would have been running the tea & coffee stand unfortunately wasn’t there due to illness, so we were all making trips back and forward to Costa and Caffe Nero. Pricey! (I did have a bottle of water as always, but that was gone in no time).

While we were there, we picked up an amazing piece of tree trunk to use in our display. But more on this later…

Our next one in the diary is a new Little Fox Market at Gerrards Cross on 24th April… What we’d like to do is probably stick with ONE of the Little Fox Venues (Rickmansworth was our launch-pad), but we’ll keep you updated! But remember, our online shop is always open.Little Fox Amersham Mar 16
